WHAT IS THE AMAZON ASSOCIATES PROGRAM?
The Amazon Associates Program, which is Amazon’s own affiliate program, offers people a way to promote products on their website, Social Media and more.
The idea is to use your own platform to promote products from Amazon, and for every sale you complete, you will receive a percentage of the purchase price. Amazon offers a huge variety of merchandise for sale on their website.. so there should be plenty of items that will fit perfectly with whatever your niche.
HOW PROFITABLE IS THE AMAZON AFFILIATE PROGRAM?
Some products for sale on Amazon will give you a much better commission than others.
The various product categories have varying commission structures.
For example, Amazon offers a 10% commission for things like Apparel, Jewelry, Luggage, Luxury Beauty, Shoes, Handbags & Accessories.
While the commission for things like Baby Products, Camera, Cell Phones & Accessories, Electronics, Major Appliances, Office Products, Personal Care Appliances, Home Entertainment, and Mobile Electronics is only 5%.
In general, unless there’s a specific commission rate shown, you will be paid a 4% commission in most categories. However, as indicated above.. in some categories the commission rate may be higher and in other cases, the commission rates are lower.
Additionally, these rates tend to change periodically.. so it is always advisable to check the current commission rates on any product categories you may consider promoting.
HOW DOES THE AMAZON ASSOCIATES PROGRAM WORK?
If you are familiar at all with affiliate marketing, the Amazon Associates Program works in the same manner as most other affiliate programs.
You, as the affiliate, will redirect your visitor to the Amazon product via an affiliate link.
If that person buys the product from Amazon within 24 hours, you will receive the commission rate as outlined above for that product category.
It’s very important to view the commission rates and understand how much you will receive per sale. You also need to consider your niche and the kind of products that may be of interest to the visitors of your site.
You can choose to focus on higher-priced items that will give you bigger commissions, or you can choose to promote items where visitors may make bulk purchases or gift purchases adding up to a higher sales total, and therefore more commissions for you.
You should also look into discovering the best-selling products in your niche. If these products are selling well for others.. they will very likely sell well on your site as well.

People have chosen to visit your blog because it is a niche that is of interest to them. If your affiliate products do not align with your niche.. your sales will be far less than if you offer products that will be of interest to your audience.
