Blogging can be a great side hustle for those passionate about a specific niche. Not only are you devoting time to something you enjoy.. but you are also making some additional money.
No one can deny that the extra money coming in every month is always welcome and a great reason to break into your happy dance. 😊
Are you looking to become a part-time blogger for the purpose of simply adding some additional income to your bottom line? Are you someone who is looking for a complete change and plans to focus on blogging full-time making it your main source of income?
Realistically speaking.. the amount of money you can make from blogging is limited only by you! How much money would it take to make you happy? How much would it take to make you feel successful? The answer to this question is different for everyone.
Some bloggers earn a six-figure income.. some earn seven figures.. and some top out at a few thousand dollars a month. It depends entirely on what your goals are and what your definition of happiness is.
The answer to the question “How much can you make as a blogger” can be anywhere from $500 a month to $5,000 a month or $100,000 a month or even more.
Once you start blogging.. you are your own boss and your financial future is in your hands!
HOW MUCH MONEY CAN YOU MAKE AS A BLOGGER?
FULL-TIME BLOGGING VS PART-TIME BLOGGING:
There is no fixed amount as to how much one can make from blogging. A blogger’s income will depend on a variety of factors.. to include: the niche.. their location.. their skill level as far as performing and implementing their keyword research.. their proficiency at writing content and the amount of time the blogger is willing to invest into their business.
While it can be hard to determine a specific dollar amount as to how much money you can make with a blog.. the average annual income for the average blogger tends to be in the range of $40,000 to $80,000.
However, a blogger’s earnings can vary widely when taking into account the factors listed above. Also, once you are able to make the transition from part-time to full-time blogger your income will increase exponentially.
HOW MUCH CAN A BEGINNING BLOGGER MAKE?
The majority of beginning bloggers have full-time jobs and are therefore only able to devote time to their blogging passion in the evenings.. during weekends and other time off.. or whenever they can find some free time.
Some beginning bloggers are stay-at-home moms. Although they do not have a job to report to every day.. they do have a lot of responsibilities with children to care for.. a family to look after.. laundry to do.. meals to prepare, etc.
Most of these bloggers are quite content to advance at their own pace. They have a lot on their plate and do not necessarily have the freedom to sit down at the computer and work on their blog whenever they want to.
Beginning bloggers very seldom progress to the $40,000 to $80,000 income range in their first years of blogging. In the first year or two.. most bloggers are focused on learning all they can about keyword research, SEO, Social Media and all the finer points of making their blogs appeal to visitors.. as well as to the Search Engines.
Inexperienced bloggers can normally expect to earn anywhere from $350 to $1,000 a month in their first year of blogging.
At the same time.. more experienced bloggers who have been doing this for a bit longer will begin to advance into the slightly higher income ranges of $3,500 to $10,000 a month.
These are very conservative estimates for beginning bloggers based on an overall average of what I have observed with some of my students.. as well as what other blog coaches and strategists observe with their students.
Blogger’s income estimates will also depend on a number of other things:
- How often are you posting?
- How much effort are you putting in?
- How proficient are you at keyword research?
- How good are you at writing compelling content?
- How do your posts compare to the top-ranking posts on the same subject?
- How well are your posts and your website optimized for the Search Engines?

HOW MUCH DO BLOGGERS MAKE – DETERMINATION PAYS OFF:
If you are focused, determined, and willing to work your butt off.. your initial foray into blogging could reward you with a generous first-year income of around $30,000 or more.
This is assuming that you are one of those who are fortunate enough to have the time to devote to your blog.. being able to pursue your blogging passion full-time from day one.
Of course.. meeting this income level will demand hard work, consistency and growth. Plus.. you realize that reaching this income level will come in the latter part of your first year after you have established the basics.
One of the things that will help you in your goal to reach the higher income brackets is being able to build your traffic to the levels required for acceptance into one of the leading ad management networks.. Raptive or Medivine.
You will need a significant level of traffic to qualify for either of these networks.. so building your traffic will be of the utmost importance.
Raptive is probably the best of the ad management systems for publishers. Mediavine is another popular choice.. but the ads do not seem to be as well targeted to your content. Things on your site that do NOT align with your content are nothing more than SPAM.
If you are interested in using the ad networks.. Raptive requires 100,000 monthly pageviews.. while Mediavine requires 50,000 sessions per month.
Being accepted into either of these ad networks can definitely add to your earnings. However, I have always been a proponent of affiliate marketing.
With affiliate marketing you can place your own ads for products that align perfectly with your niche and with the content on each of your posts. Giving your audience the exact things they are interested in is where the money is made!
MAKING MONEY FROM BLOGGING AS A PROFESSION:
Maintaining your level of focus and determination in your second year.. you should expect your income to double.
At this point.. you will become another of the elite group of those of us who are full-time professional bloggers. Becoming a professional blogger means you are now earning your living exclusively from blogging! 😍
By this time.. you should also be re-investing some of your blog income back into your business. In the beginning.. it is advisable to handle as many of the tasks as possible on your own to keep costs down.
However.. once you begin making some decent money.. re-investing some of that money back into your business is the wise thing to do. Whether that means going back and taking some of those courses you put off in the beginning due to lack of finances. Or.. perhaps you would like to begin delegating some of the workload to others.
This might mean hiring someone to manage your social media.. or hiring a professional to manage your keyword research and blog content strategy.
EARNING MONEY WITH BLOGGING – THE SKY IS THE LIMIT:
In your succeeding years.. that is when you need to consider doubling your efforts.
Whether that means including more affiliate products comparable to those that have proven to be most popular with your audience.. focusing on a campaign to increase the size of your e-mail list.. accepting more sponsorships and partnerships.. or perhaps starting a second niche blog.
Remember.. the amount of money you can make from blogging is limited only by you. Keep doing what you have been doing.. continue to grow.. reach for the stars and increase your income to whatever amount you feel you need to Create the Lifestyle of Your Dreams!
